Get ready to make a difference! High school students can now earn valuable community service hours and a recognition certificate from the Secretary of State’s office through Lifesaving Education and Awareness on Donation (LEAD). As ambassadors for the Illinois Organ/Tissue Donor Program, students will have the chance to promote organ and tissue donation and contribute to saving lives.
For the 2024-2025 school year (September 2024 through May 2025), we are offering students an opportunity to showcase their creativity by organizing and participating in approved campus or community activities aimed at raising awareness about organ and tissue donation. Activities can be as simple as setting up a donor registration table at a school or community event or participating in a larger community activity. We think students will enjoy organizing activities with their friends while earning valuable community service hours.
You can find all the information needed to participate at LifeGoesOn.com. The Secretary of State’s office will provide training and supply kits for successful events. We encourage students to form teams of 5 with their friends. They should ask an interested faculty member or school administrator to serve as the designated advisor to fill out forms and record team activities. The teams should then watch the TeachLife Training Presentation and review a list of sample activities to get started.
We promise you’ll have a fun and rewarding experience educating others about the importance of organ and tissue donation while earning community service hours. It’s a win-win. Let’s get started!
