2006 Organ/Tissue Donor Poster Contest

The Secretary of State's office held its 15th annual Organ/Tissue Donor Poster Contest Ceremony on Wednesday, March 19, 2006, in the State Capitol Building in Springfield. Students from over 5,000 schools in Illinois had the chance to design posters that reflected the importance of organ donation. The students who were honored in Springfield represent the top winners from each grade level:

  • K - 2nd - Darren Wenger
    Pleasant Valley School in Peoria
  • 3rd - 5th - Robert Rosene
    Maternity B.V.M. School in Bourbonnais
  • 6th - 8th - Shane Williams
    Pleasant Valley School in Peoria
  • 9th - 12th - Elizabeth Dribin
Niles North High School in Skokie

In addition to winning her grade level, Elizabeth Dribin was also named the Overall Grand Prize Winner. Her poster will be printed and distributed for use throughout Secretary of State driver facilities and numerous libraries throughout Illinois.

All of the students received certificates of recognition, goody bags, official Illinois Blue Books with their names printed on them, and gift cards to Barnes & Noble. They also had a chance to meet with Secretary of State Jesse White, who recognized their accomplishments and educated the kids about the importance of organ donation.
